Description

The Chessmaster Game Gear

The Chessmaster is a portable chess game for the Sega Game Gear, released in North America in 1991 and in Europe in 1992. As part of the long-running Chessmaster series, it offers chess instruction and challenges for players of all skill levels.
Gameplay features
  • Difficulty levels: The game offers 16 different computer difficulty levels, ranging from “Newcomer” to “Grandmaster”.
  • Play modes: You can play a match against the computer, set up a two-player match using a “Gear-to-Gear Cable” accessory, or watch the computer play against itself.
  • Teaching and hints: A “Teaching Mode” highlights all the possible legal moves for a selected piece. You can also ask the computer for a hint during a match.
  • Game analysis: The game allows you to take back and replay moves for a comprehensive analysis of the match.
  • Custom board setup: Players can set up custom board positions to solve specific chess problems or practice against a particular scenario.
  • Save function: A password system lets you save your game and continue playing later.

Another great retro game available at Escapist Gamer – Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear)
