Rolo to the Rescue is a 1992 platformer game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, starring an elephant named Rolo. Developed by British studio Vectordean and published by Electronic Arts, the game is known for its clever puzzle elements that require players to rescue and utilize various animal companions.

Story and gameplay

The plot: The game’s story follows a young elephant named Rolo who is kidnapped by the dastardly ringmaster McSmiley to join his circus. After escaping, Rolo sets out to rescue his caged animal friends from the circus’s other performers across 60 levels.
A team of animals: As Rolo progresses, he can rescue up to three animal friends, each with a unique ability. The player can switch between Rolo and his companions to solve puzzles and navigate the levels. The special abilities include:
- Rabbit: Jumps to greater heights.
- Squirrel: Can climb walls.
- Mole: Can dig through soft ground.
- Beaver: Can safely swim in water.
