Toy Story Mega Drive
Toy Story for the Sega Mega Drive is a platformer video game based on the Disney/Pixar film, which was originally released in 1995. The game was developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Sega. You play primarily as Woody, the cowboy doll, and navigate through 19 levels that retell the movie’s plot.
Gameplay features
- Perspective: The game mostly uses a top-down, side-scrolling platformer perspective. Some stages feature unique gameplay elements, such as a first-person sequence using a ray-casting technique similar to the game Wolfenstein 3D, which was an unusual technical achievement for the Mega Drive.
- Bonus mini-game: The Mega Drive version is the only version of Toy Story to include a bonus mini-game for players who collect enough stars.
- Technical achievements: In addition to the first-person level, the game was noted for its use of an Amiga MOD music sound driver and its ability to achieve more colours in cutscenes than the Mega Drive was typically capable of.
