Description
Super Tennis Master System
Super Tennis is a classic sports game developed and published by Sega for the Master System, first released in 1985. It features both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Gameplay and Features
- Perspective and Movement: The game uses a third-person, fixed, portrait camera perspective with human players always positioned at the bottom of the screen. The game attempts to simulate 3D by scaling the tennis ball.
- Controls: Players can move around the court and use two buttons for different shots. One button hits the ball straight and fast, while the other performs a lob shot. When near the net, volleys and smashes are possible.
- Game Modes: You can play singles matches or doubles matches, with the option to team up with another human player against CPU opponents. The difficulty of the CPU opponent can be adjusted in the options menu.
- Rules: The game follows standard tennis rules, with points going from 15-30-40-game, and sets won by the first player to win six games with a two-game lead. An umpire’s voice can be heard yelling “FAULT” or the score during play.
- Regional Differences: The game was known as Great Tennis in Japan and was released as a Sega Card internationally, in addition to a cartridge version in Europe.
