Road Rash II Mega Drive
Released for the Mega Drive in 1992, Road Rash II is a motorcycle racing game with a focus on vehicular combat, developed by Electronic Arts. As with the original, you participate in illegal road races and must finish in the top three to advance. The game was critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
Gameplay and features
Road Rash II introduced several features that distinguish it from its predecessor:
- Race for cash: Compete in illegal races across five different states—Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, Arizona, and Vermont—to earn money.
- Upgrade your bike: Use your prize money to buy better and faster motorcycles. There are three different classes of bike, including “Nitro Class” bikes with a nitrous oxide injection feature for a short-term speed boost.
- New weapon: In addition to punches, kicks, and clubs, you can now steal and use chains to damage opponents.
- Two-player modes: The game’s new multiplayer mode lets you race a friend in a split-screen display. The “Mano a Mano” mode lets two human players duel one-on-one.
- Improved graphics: The sequel features smoother animations and better graphics, with parallax scrolling in the backgrounds to create a more dynamic sense of speed.
