Description

Solitaire Poker Manual Game Gear

The game Solitaire Poker on the Sega Game Gear follows the rules of the card game Poker Squares, also known as Poker Solitaire. The objective is to strategically place cards on a 5×5 grid to create the highest-scoring poker hands possible in both the horizontal rows and vertical columns.
How to play
  1. A standard 52-card deck is used, and cards are dealt one at a time.
  2. Each card is placed face-up into one of the 25 empty slots on the 5×5 grid. A card cannot be moved once it is placed.
  3. The game ends once the 25th card has been placed and the grid is full.
  4. Scoring is based on the poker hands formed by each of the five rows and five columns. Your final score is the sum of the points from all 10 hands.
Scoring system
The Game Gear version of Solitaire Poker uses a specific scoring system, which is different from the traditional American and English systems. The following table shows the point values for each poker hand:

Game modes
The Game Gear version of Solitaire Poker also features a multiplayer mode for two players using a Gear-to-Gear Cable. Both players compete for the highest score over five rounds, and the modes can be customized with or without a time limit.
  • Type A: The bottom three rows of each player’s grid are face-up, and points are gained for completed hands.
  • Type B: In this mode, completing a hand affects the opponent by reducing the number of face-up cards they can see, based on the value of the hand completed.
