Description

Over the Net Amiga

A one to four player sports game published by Merit Software in 1991, developed by Dardari Bros. Over the Net is a beach volleyball game developed by Dardari Bros. and published by Genias in 1990 for the Amiga. It was ported for DOS and Commodore 64 in 1991.

The game features several different teams to choose from with some pun-tastic names like the Beach Boys, the Power Guns, and the Golden Boys (blondes). Though I gotta say team “CoCo” is a little on the jacked up side of punny. Each team features 2 members with customizable names, but not appearances. Before you choose your team you must choose either 1, 3, or 5 sets to play. Once you have chosen your team and named everyone, it’s time to hit the beach. First team to 15 points is the winner of each set. Rather than just taking on the computer, you can also play with a friend co-op or go head to head.

Over the Net Amiga

Over the Net got decent reviews from critics, but there were definitely more players with positive remarks about the game. There were a few ‘best beach volleyball game’ comments thrown around. I’m not big on the sport (or any sport for that matter), but it seems to be pretty popular with sports fans, so why not give it a shot?

Another great retro game available at Escapist Gamer – The Kristal (Amiga)
