Super Kick Off Master System
Super Kick Off is a popular football simulation game developed by Anco Software and released for the Sega Master System in 1991. The Master System version is an 8-bit port of Kick Off 2 and is notable for its realistic ball control mechanics, where the ball does not simply “stick” to the player’s feet.
Key Features
- Gameplay Mechanics: The game emphasizes dribbling, trapping, and “aftertouch” swerving for a more realistic feel compared to other soccer games of its era. All rules of soccer are included, except for offsides, which were omitted to maintain game speed.
- Game Modes: Options include friendly matches, a domestic league and cup (featuring eight English teams), a European league (16 European teams), and an international cup tournament.
- Customization: Players can edit club team names, shirts, and player names and looks, with changes saved directly to the cartridge’s internal memory.
- Multiplayer: It is highly regarded as one of the best two-player games available for the system.
- Graphics and Sound: It features attractive graphics, smooth and fast scrolling, but is often criticized for having poor title screen music.
