Description
Starion ZX Spectrum
Starion is an action/adventure game released in 1985 by Melbourne House for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K home computer. In the game, you play as Starion, a rookie starfighter pilot tasked with fixing alterations to Earth’s timeline caused by time-traveling aliens. It is known for its advanced vector graphics for the platform and its combination of 3D space combat and puzzle-solving.
Gameplay and mechanics
The game takes place in a “space-time continuum” that consists of 243 time zones. To progress, you must complete the following steps in each zone:
- Combat: Engage and destroy an enemy alien time ship in a 3D, first-person dogfight. You must use your scanner to track enemies and avoid obstacles like asteroids.
- Collect cargo: After destroying an enemy ship, it leaves behind an alphabetical letter. You must collect these letters to fill your ship’s cargo hold.
- Solve anagrams: Once all enemy ships are destroyed, you must unscramble the collected letters to form a word. This word represents a historical artifact that the aliens have displaced.
- Time warp: Enter a time warp and travel to one of the eight neighbouring time zones.
- Correct history: Land on Earth in the correct time zone to return the historical artifact. Successfully completing this will refuel your ship and allow you to proceed to the next sector.
