Daley Thompsons Super Test ZX Spectrum

Daley Thompson’s Super Test was released for the ZX Spectrum in 1985, published by Ocean Software. It is an action sports game and the second instalment in the Daley Thompson series on the platform, following the successful Daley Thompson’s Decathlon.

Events
The game featured a different number of events depending on the ZX Spectrum version: 
  • ZX Spectrum 48K version (8 events): Cycling, Giant Slalom, Penalties (football), Pistol Shooting, Rowing, Ski Jumping, Springboard Diving, and Tug of War.
  • ZX Spectrum 128K version (12 events): This version included the eight events from the 48K version plus four additional events: 100 metres hurdles, Javelin, Sprint, and Triple Jump.

  • Graphics: The game was considered graphically superior to its predecessor, Daley Thompson’s Decathlon, with different graphics for each event.
  • Loading: The 48K version loaded each event separately, while the 128K version loaded everything into RAM in one go, offering a smoother experience.
  • Sound: The 128K version featured enhanced sound capabilities through the AY-3-8912 sound chip and included a rendition of the Chariots of Fire theme tune.
  • Controls: The game supported redefinable keys and joysticks.
