Description

Combat Atari 2600

Combat for Atari 2600 Overview
Combat is a vintage video game published by Atari, Inc. as one of the nine launch titles for the Atari 2600 in 1977. It was famously included as a pack-in game with the Atari 2600 console from 1977 to 1982. The game features two-player combat scenarios with a variety of vehicles and settings.
Gameplay and modes
Combat is a two-player game with multiple sub-games involving tanks, biplanes, and jet fighters.
  • Vehicles: You and a second player control a vehicle, with the options of tanks, biplanes, or jets.
  • Game variations: The cartridge contains 27 different games, offering variations such as different playfields (open, hard maze, easy maze) and weapons (straight or guided missiles).
  • Tank modes: In the tank battle modes, the game features steerable bullets that can pass through walls and bouncing bullets. Some variations also include invisible tanks.
  • Aircraft modes: In the biplane and jet modes, players engage in dogfights with different firing mechanics and playfield obstacles, like clouds.
  • Multiplayer focus: While the game can be played by one person for practice, its primary design is for two players competing head-to-head. A second joystick is required for the full two-player experience.

Another great retro game available at Escapist Gamer – Warlords (Atari 2600)
