Description
Alfa Data Megamouse Plus Amiga
The Alfa Data Megamouse Plus was a high-resolution, opto-mechanical ball mouse released for the Commodore Amiga home computer line in the early 1990s. Known for its quality and improved performance, it was a popular upgrade for Amiga users.
Key feature
- High resolution: With a resolution of 400 DPI (dots per inch), the Megamouse Plus offered greater precision than the standard Amiga mouse.
- Opto-mechanical: Unlike cheaper mechanical mice, the Megamouse Plus used an opto-mechanical encoder to translate the ball’s movement. This resulted in more reliable and accurate tracking.
- Widespread compatibility: It worked with all Amiga and Amiga CD32 models. Some versions were also compatible with Atari computers and featured a switch to change modes.
- Improved design: Reviewers from the time praised its low-profile, super-stylish design and reliable micro-switch buttons.
- Industry accolades: The mouse earned a “Gold” review from the prominent UK magazine Amiga Format in its September 1992 issue.
- Long-lasting: The Megamouse Plus is regarded by some Amiga enthusiasts as a high-quality “king of mice” from that era, with many examples still functional today.
Alfa Data also produced other popular Amiga peripherals, including hard drive controllers and external floppy disk drives
