Description
Air-Sea Battle Atari 2600
Air-Sea Battle, developed by Atari, Inc. for the Atari 2600, was one of the console’s nine original launch titles in 1977. The fixed shooter game features 27 different variations, most of which can be played with two players. In the United States, the game was also released by Sears under the title Target Fun as a pack-in game for their Tele-Games version of the console.
Gameplay and modes
Most game variations in Air-Sea Battle involve shooting down targets that appear on the screen. Each player uses a Joystick Controller to move their aiming reticle, with the button used to fire. Key game modes include:
- Anti-Aircraft: You control a cannon at the bottom of the screen to shoot down different types of aircraft, including jets, helicopters, and blimps.
- Torpedo: This naval-themed mode pits you against various ships and mines.
- Shooting Gallery: A carnival-style game where you aim at moving targets like ducks, rabbits, and clowns.
- Polaris vs. Bomber: In this two-player mode, one player controls a ship firing missiles while the other controls a plane dropping bombs. Some versions of this mode include obstacles like mines that can block shots.
- Guided shots: Some variations allow players to influence the speed and trajectory of their shots by moving the controller after firing.
Another great Atari 2600 game – Stargate (Atari 2600)
