The Majors: Pro Baseball is a 1992 baseball game for the Sega Game Gear with a license from the Major League Baseball Players Association, so it features the real 1991 player rosters, though team names and logos are fictional. The game is considered one of the best baseball titles for the console.
Gameplay features
- Modes: The game offers several modes, including a single-player exhibition game, a season-based Pennant mode, a two-player Versus mode (using a Gear-to-Gear cable), and an Edit mode.
- Season length: In Pennant mode, players can play seasons of 32, 71, or a full 162 games. Season progress is saved on the game cartridge.
- Custom teams: In Edit mode, you can create and save up to two custom teams, selecting players from any of the teams in the game.
- Pitching and batting: The perspective is from behind the catcher. When pitching, you can position the pitcher on the mound and select from different pitch speeds and breaking ball motions.
- Stadiums: The game includes multiple distinct stadium designs.
- Umpire audio: Umpires’ calls for “strike,” “ball,” and “out” are vocalized, albeit with a notable Japanese accent.
